A group of residents in Forest Fields, Nottingham have set up a campaign group to fight the introduction of CCTV in their neighborhood. Forest Fields Folks Against CCTV are taking on the snappily named "Area 4 Neighbourhood Management Team" who are trying to foist six surveillance cameras on the residents of Forest Fields.

Nottingham is one of the areas in the UK that has installed talking CCTV cameras, a technology described as a "bridge too far" by the Information Commissioner. Nottingham council recently won a National CCTV award for complying with standards designed to hide the fact that CCTV intrudes on civil liberties, does not reduce or solve crime and is a huge waste of money.
